The Charles SCD holds its annual Maryland Association of Soil Conservation Districts (MASCD) Coloring and Poster Contests in the Spring. Elementary schools throughout Charles County are invited to participate in the local coloring contest, and middle and high school students in the poster contest.
The District provides county elementary schools with contest entry information. There are three entry classes for the coloring contest: Division A: Grades K and 1; Division B: Grades 2 and 3; Division C: Grades 4 and 5. Each school holds their own contest and forwards their winning entries from each division to the Charles SCD where the entries are judged and county winners are chosen for each of the three divisions.
The Charles County coloring and poster contest first place winners for each division receive a $20.00 gift certificate. Second place receives $10.00 gift cards. The first place winners in each category are submitted to be judged at the state contest in July of each year at the MASCD Annual Conference. Winners of the state poster contest move on to the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) Poster Contest at the NACD Annual Conference in February.
Thank you to all of our participants and congratulations to our winners!
